When the Heart Awakens: The Bridge Between Survival and Soul

Coming Home to the Heart: A Journey of Opening, Awakening, and Returning to Love Have you ever felt like your heart had quietly closed?

Not in a dramatic, movie-scene kind of way—but more like a subtle guarding. A soft wall built over time, layer by layer. You’re functioning, even thriving in some ways, but beneath the surface something feels tender… or missing.

That something is often the heart.

The heart center—also known as the Anahata chakra—is the energetic bridge between the lower chakras (root, sacral, solar plexus) and the higher ones (throat, third eye, crown). It connects our very human experience—survival, sensuality, personal power—with the more ethereal realms of truth, vision, and spirit.

It is the gateway from doing… to being.

From reacting… to responding.

From fear… to love.

And yet, for many of us, the heart is the place where we’ve learned to guard ourselves the most.

Why the Heart Closes

The heart doesn’t close because we’re broken.
It closes because we’re human.

Our heart begins wide open. As children, we feel deeply. We love without conditions. We are present. We trust.

But over time—through heartbreak, rejection, abandonment, betrayal, trauma, and simply the demands of this fast-paced, often disembodied world—we begin to shield this tender place. Sometimes we numb out. Sometimes we armor up. Sometimes we give our love too freely and lose our sense of self.

It’s all protection. Adaptive. Wise, in a way.

But over time, living with a guarded heart can leave us feeling disconnected, isolated, and stuck in survival mode. We begin to operate mostly from the lower chakras: Root (safety), Sacral (emotions/pleasure), and Solar Plexus (will/power), often unconsciously driven by fear, control, or avoidance.

We react instead of respond.

We strive instead of flow.

We hold on instead of soften.

The body might tense. The breath shortens. The nervous system stays on alert.

And the heart waits.

What Does It Mean to Open the Heart?

Heart opening isn’t about becoming naïve or overly vulnerable.
It’s about returning to our natural state of coherence—where the mind, body, and spirit are aligned in love.

To open the heart means to:

  • Let go of old armoring that no longer protects, but confines.
  • Allow emotion to move through the body instead of suppressing it.
  • Forgive—not necessarily for others—but to free ourselves from energetic entanglement.
  • Feel safe enough to be seen, soft, and receptive.
  • Energetically, it’s a shift from contraction to expansion.

Biologically, it often includes the activation of the parasympathetic nervous system, the release of oxytocin (the love/bonding hormone), and a sense of safety that allows the body to heal.

Spiritually, it is a reconnection to our essence: love, presence, compassion, and truth.

For many, piercing the heart is the major turning point in the awakening journey.

The Heart in Kundalini Sessions

In Sacred Energy Activation sessions, the heart is often a central player—whether participants realize it or not.

Kundalini energy doesn’t “go up” like a straight line—it flows, spirals, and weaves its way through the body in exactly the way we need.

Sometimes it’s clearing stagnation in the lower chakras—unprocessed fear, suppressed sexuality, wounded ego. And sometimes, that current moves up and meets the tightness in the chest, the armor around the ribs, the sadness held behind the heart.

That’s when it happens.

  • Tears.
  • Spontaneous laughter.
  • An involuntary arch of the spine.
  • A feeling of deep presence, gratitude, or love—for self, for life, for everything.
  • Some people feel like their chest is physically expanding, cracking open.
  • Others experience heat, tingling, waves of energy.

And some feel… nothing. Just a quiet sense of peace. That’s heart opening too.

No two sessions are the same. The energy meets us exactly where we are.

But when the heart is ready, when the field is safe and supportive, and the frequency is right—it opens. And when it does, we feel whole again.

The Heart as the Bridge Between Earth and Sky

In chakra theory, the first three energy centers deal with our basic human needs:

  • Root (Muladhara) = safety and survival
  • Sacral (Svadhisthana) = creativity and emotional flow
  • Solar Plexus (Manipura) = personal will and identity

The upper chakras, meanwhile, speak to our more spiritual aspects:

  • Throat (Vishuddha) = truth and expression
  • Third Eye (Ajna) = intuition and insight
  • Crown (Sahasrara) = connection to the divine

The Heart (Anahata) is the bridge.
It’s where the physical meets the spiritual.
Where action meets compassion.
Where identity softens into connection.

When our heart is closed, we often move through life from the lower centers—motivated by fear, need, or willpower alone. We push. We strive. We protect.

When our heart is open, we begin to act from a higher place—not just to survive or succeed, but to serve, to love, and to express the soul’s wisdom.

This is the shift from force to flow.

From doing… to being.

What Happens After a Heart Opens?

It’s not always blissful.
Sometimes it’s raw.
We might cry for reasons we can’t explain.
We might feel waves of emotion we thought we buried long ago.

But with each release, there’s spaciousness.
With each softening, there’s more breath.
And with each breath, there’s more you.

You begin to meet life differently.
You listen more deeply.
You speak more truthfully.
You act more compassionately.

Not because you’re trying to—but because it’s natural.

You’re not performing love.
You’re being it.

Opening the heart is not a destination—it’s a dance.

Some days it feels wide open. Other days, it gently closes again. That’s okay. The journey is not linear. But every moment you choose to meet yourself with presence, softness, and love… the heart remembers.

In Sacred Energy Activation, this remembrance is what we hold space for.
A return.
A re-alignment.
A reconnection to the truth that you are love.
And that it’s safe to live from that place again.

May we all remember.
May we all soften.
May we all come home to the heart.
